Diary dates for 2010 at Mallory Park
With one season just over Mallory Park is already limbering up for the next one and 2010 is shaping up nicely.
The action starts on Valentine’s Day, Sunday 14th February, with the Winter Rallycross Championship. The inaugural Rallycross was hugely successful with Supercars which are capable of 0-60 mph in 1.9seconds taking to the specially built shale sections in spectacular sideways action. It’s a great way to kick start the race season.
Biking action returns on 7th March with East Midlands Racing Association taking over the friendly circuit and giving bikers their first racing fix of the year.
Motocross has come to Mallory Park over the past two years and now the first round of the Maxxis British Motocross Championship will join in the off road fun. The race will take place on the 21st March and the regular race track will also be put to use with a road race running on the same weekend.
Car racing returns on the 4th April with the 750 Motor Club providing the action. They have a wide variety of classes which will keep all enthusiasts happy.
An event that doesn’t involve engines will take place on Monday 3rd May and that is the Triathalon, even the Mallory Park Lake will be pressed into action for this one.
British Superbikes will be back with a bang on the 25th, 26th and 27th June. HM Plant Honda’s Josh Brookes set tongues wagging this year when he wiped out most of the top ten, let’s hope 2010 brings dramatic racing but with a lower attrition rate.
For classis bike fans this is the event to attend, the Festival of 1000 bikes which will be held on 10th-11th July. Book early for this one if you want to take your classic machine on track, there will also be plenty of eye candy with vintage displays and retail stands.
Not to be out done the Vintage Sports Car Club will arrive on 22 August to put their pristine vehicles through their paces round the twists and turns of Mallory Park.
Thundersport GB has injected a new found energy into British motorcycle racing and the will be seen at Mallory for the final round of the Championship on 9th-10th October.
If you want something to do over the Halloween weekend then the International Sidecar Festival on the 30th-31st October will be ideal. For further information please visit www.motorcyclenews.com.
For race fans who simply can’t wait until the New Year there is the Plum Pudding Yuletide races which will be held on Boxing Day Saturday 26th December.
