Historic racing at its best with Masters racing

The Masters Racing Top Hat Saloon car races are coming to Mallory Park on Sunday 25th October.

These glorious classics will provide an all action walk down memory lane as they race round the Friendly Leicestershire circuit.

Qualifying starts at 09:30 and the first race, which is the Stars of the 70’s with Touring 70’s at 11:55. The Stars class is made up of pre-1975 vehicles such as GT and touring cars from Morgan Plus 8s through to Capris, TVRs and period specials. The Touring Cars of the 70s tries to re-create the touring car excitement of the 70s.

There is a brief lunch break before the Oldies but Goldies get to race. The aim of this class is to bring back the early days of the British Touring Car Championship letting Austins, Zephyrs and Rileys all compete against one another.

The feature race of the day, the Top Hat Saloons are out next, pitching unlikely cars against each other. Mustangs can be seen battling Minis while Falcons take on Alfas.

Next is the Cloth Cap race including the XK Challenge. The Cloth Cap series is reminiscent of national sports cars racing from the 50s and 60s and allows front-engine production-based GT and sports cars to race. The Jaguar XK Championship was new in 2008 and still going strong this season with plenty of action.

The Stars of the 70s and the Oldies but Goldies get the final outing of the day bringing the very full race day to a close.
