Historic racing at Mallory Park
On Sunday 9th August Mallory Park will resound to the growl of Historic race cars.
The nine races lined up look like they will provide excellent racing as well as plenty for car enthusiasts to look at.
The racing starts a 13:30 with the Historic Saloons and it is made up of cars produced before 1966. It is a real mixed bag with Mini Coopers taking on Ford Anglias, Ford Mustangs and Ford Falcons. It is exciting and interesting racing.
Historic Formula Ford hits the track at 13.55 with the pre-1972 single seaters providing a good entry level for novices.
Next up are the Historic Road Sports at 14.20 and this sees road-legal production sports cars produced in the 1970s battling it out. Minor engine and suspension changes are allowed but all body work is to be standard. It provides a varied field across many marques.
The Historic Formula Junior A and B rolls out onto track next and the hugely popular series is still enjoyed. The single seaters produce great racing and it is good to see these classics on track.
Classic Racing Cars join in the fun at 15.35 with 1960s single seaters of various styles. These are the original race cars before all the bells and whistle were added.
Road Sports take to the friendly circuit at 16.00 this class is for production sports and GT cars built and registered between 1947 and 1969. Historic Formula Ford 2000 is open to pre-1980 machines and it proved a popular class in the 1970s.
The last race of the day is the Guards Trophy at 16.50 and consists of GT and sports-racing cars built before 1966 with an international pedigree.
