Mallory Park Holds First ACU Suzuki GSX-R600 Trophy Open Day

MALLORY Park today held the first of the ACU Suzuki GSX-R600 Trophy open days which was heralded as a success by all involved.

The idea behind the open day was to give the Trophy riders some track time and allow new potential riders to come along and see what the Championship is all about.

Conditions started off cool and foggy but soon cleared allowing the riders to hit the track. Three times British Superbike Champion John Reynolds was in attendance to give advice to the riders in his role as Ambassador for the Championship. He was joined by former Superbike racer Matt Llewellyn and two times 250 British Champion Steve Sawford to assist with any enquiries.

John Ward, General Manager for Mallory Park said: “I’m thrilled that we were able to provide the GSX-R Trophy with a suitable venue to host their first open day. The riders enjoyed blasting the cobwebs away when they got on track in the cool conditions. It was a successful day, the ACU achieved what they wanted to and everyone enjoyed themselves.”

Dave Luscombe from the ACU was equally impressed with the outcome of the open day. “It all ran smoothly and the riders had the opportunity to chat with JR and the other coaches who were made available to them,” he commented. “I’m looking forward to returning to the Friendly circuit in the future as it has a lot to offer a Championship like ours.”

Mallory Park opens its gates every Wednesday afternoon for both two and four wheeled competitors to carry out test work. For further information on track usage or events please visit www.mallorypark.co.uk
