The World Motocross GP comes to Mallory Park
Following months of hard work Mallory Park is now ready to open its gates to the World Motocross which will take place on Sunday 1st June.
Youth Stream, the Italian company behind the World Championship will arrive at Mallory Park on Tuesday 27th May to start setting up the infrastructure for the event.
Gareth Hockey, Director of RHL Activities, the event promoter said: “The whole process has gone smoothly; we’ve had good build up to the event with Mallory Park’s assistance. There is a willingness to work and get things right. It is different to other road race venues.”
The entertainment begins on the evening of Friday 30th May with free entry to the Friendly circuit where a fun fair will provided thrills for everyone. Alongside the traditional fairground rides there will be extreme rides for all the adrenalin junkies out there.
On Saturday night music will be provided by two up and coming bands. The Maria Willson Band has toured with Busted and has been influenced by Aerosmith, Alanis Morissette and Bon Jovi. The Tuna Kings will also take to the stage covering bands like The White Stripes, The Arctic Monkeys and Maroon 5. To finish the night off DJ Nigel Trego and MC Turbo will be supplying the tunes to keep everyone on the dance floor.
There will be plenty to cheer about on race day with four British riders in the thick of the action. Billy MacKenzie is contesting the MX1 class and is currently in fifth in the championship. In the MX2 class there could be a British one, two, and three with Tommy Searle, Shaun Simpson and Stephen Sword all competing. Searle is currently third in the championship just eight points from the leader Tyla Rattray. Simpson is in sixth and Sword is just behind in seventh place.
Aside from the racing a Parade of Legends will take place over two laps of the newly built circuit. Roger Harvey, Jamie Dobb, Dave Watson, Justin Banks, Mark Banks will be on track. Former World Superbike star Carl Fogarty may also take part in the event along with some BSB regulars.
The on track action starts on Saturday 31st May at 09:30 with practice and qualifying races. Racing will commence on Sunday 1st June at 1200. Advance ticket sales have been extended until Tuesday 27th May significant savings can be made by booking on line via www.ticketmaster.co.uk.
