Mallory Park celebrates Ginetta’s 50th Birthday
In honour of the Yorkshire-based car manufacturer, Ginetta Cars Ltd, Mallory Park will dedicate Sunday 7th September to a whole day’s track action to celebrate its 50thAnniversary.
Motor racing is in Ginetta’s blood and its racing heritage is still shining through today. Five different race categories will be venturing onto the 1.35-mile circuit, all having two races each which will provide an action-packed day.
Ginetta Heritage consists of the classic makes of Ginetta; reliving the marque’s heyday, whilst Club Ginetta is an introductory race series for novices or those who simply want to have fun.
For the three ‘main’ Championships, it’s the penultimate race weekend so there are valuable points at stake for those who are chasing Championship honours.
The Ginetta Junior Championship racers aged 14 to 17 years old usually entertain crowds as warm-up races for the British Touring Cars Championship. They will be in action at Mallory Park and the line up will include Joshua Hill, son of Damon Hill OBE, the last British Formula 1 World Champion.
Also out are the Texaco Havoline Ginetta Championship cars, which have become famous at the tracks for their close battles throughout the 30-car grid.
Finally the mighty G50 GT cars will power their way around the track. The title has already been decided in this instance, but it’s still all to play for down the rest of the table.
With complimentary Dodgem cars, an open paddock for spectators to have a closer look at the cars, opportunities to meet the drivers and lots more off-track entertainment, it really will be a fun day for the whole family.
Qualifying starts at 09:30 and runs until 11:40 when race one takes place. There is a brief lunch break and then the racing picks up again at 13:10. Tickets can be purchased in advance for £10 or £12 on the gate, to book simply click on www.mallorypark.co.uk or call 01455 842 931.
