Big names and iconic machines prepare to descend on Mallory Park

A wealth of famous bikers from past and present, as well as their fabulous machines are due to take to the track at Mallory Park on Saturday and Sunday, 12th – 13th July, as the VMCC’s Festival of 1000 Bikes gets into full swing.

The Vintage Motorcycle Club has just secured the services of Jim Moodie, ex Norton Rotary works rider and TT winner, to come and ride the fourth Rotary Norton race bike at the Festival. He will be in good company as Trevor Nation, Ian Simpson and Phil Borley will also be lining up alongside him on their famed race bikes.

As well as the stars from the past, new up and coming race star, Lee Dickinson, has been given the honour of riding the new Norton NRV588 rotary race machine, which is still under development by Rotary Guru Brian Crighton. This will be only the second time that the new machine has been seen in public as it broke cover for the first time at last year’s Festival.

Giacomo Agostini, Phil Read, John Cooper, Mick Grant and Sammy Miller will all be present, as will a plethora of exotic machines like the MV Agusta 500, works BSA Rocket 3, Suzuki RG500, Manx Norton, JPS Norton RLW Rotary and Mamola’s Suzuki XR45.

Aside from all the stars there is plenty to keep everyone entertained, with track time for the public on their vintage bikes, a historic Grass Track, straight line Sprints and evening entertainment in the form of the Ace Cafe Rock and Roll Stage.

Tickets to this jam packed classic event can be purchased in advance with Saturday costing £9.00, Sunday £12.00 or a weekend ticket costing a very reasonable £18.00, children under 16 go free and parking is free.
