Fantastic racing anticipated at Mallory Park BSB

The sixth round of the British Superbikes got off to a great start today at Mallory Park, with two different riders heading each free practice session.

Local rider, Cal Crutchlow, set the pace during dry free practice this morning aboard his HM Plant Honda, lapping the 1.41 mile circuit in 56.698secs. The weather then changed for the afternoon leaving the riders to deal with damp track conditions. The fastest man during that session was Rizla Suzuki’s Tom Sykes; the Huddersfield rider lapped the Friendly Circuit in 1min 00.490secs.

Both Crutchlow and Sykes are capable of taking the fight to the Championship leader, Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne on the Airwaves Ducati. Byrne has an 83 point lead in the Championship at the moment and is determined to try and extend that further, but rest assured Crutchlow and Sykes will be doing their best to stop that happening.

Due to the nature of the Leicestershire venue, the racing will be close and fraught with the numerous chicanes keeping the riders together on track.

Final free practice takes place on Saturday 28^th June with qualifying at 14:40. On track activity starts on Sunday 28^th June at 09:30 with morning warm-up, racing commences at 11:40.
