Haydon welcomes racing return at Mallory Park
James Haydon returns to the fray this weekend at Mallory Park for round six of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship, replacing the injured Stuart Easton in the MSS Discovery Kawasaki squad.
Haydon has been present at British Superbikes this year but as a TV pundit rather than a racer, now he will revert back to his original role for the first time this season with the Kawasaki team.
The team has tested at Mallory Park recently to allow Hayden to get back up to speed and to acquaint himself with his new bike. "I had a quick shakedown at Mallory and then another session at Brands Hatch recently just to get dialled in and to meet the team,” explained Haydon. “The bikes are immaculate and I am motivated to repay the faith that the guys have placed in me. I'll do my best to keep the seat of Stuart's Ninja ZX-10R warm, ready for him to return to the team as soon as he is fit again."
MSS Discovery Kawasaki has been working on how to get the power down and maximise the drive out of the slow turns of Mallory Park. Team Principle Nick Morgan said: "There always were a few places where you got into a sort of stop, start regime at Mallory, even before the Edwina's complex was introduced. The tendency is always to go for peak power and top speed, but you just can't use that here so we are concentrating on grunt to get the bikes out of the corners as quickly as possible."
The Andorra based rider will take to the track on Friday 27th June for the two free practice sessions. Final free practice continues on Saturday 28th June with qualifying taking place at 14:40. Racing kicks off on Sunday 28th June at 13:15 and 16:20.
Advanced ticket sales have now closed but they can be purchased on the gate and costs range from £8 for a practice day ticket, through to £48 for the weekend including paddock on practice and qualifying days but not race day.
