The Festival of 1000 bikes revs up for Mallory Park

The UK’s biggest motorcycle festival, the Festival of 1000 Bikes, is getting ready for one of its most spectacular events yet at Mallory Park on the 12th-13th July.

Offering Classic Bike displays, an auto jumble, club stands, as well as track time, it is the ideal place for any biking fan to spend a weekend. Joining the well known machines will be some big names from the past, multiple World Champion and TT winner Giacomo Agostini will be there alongside Phil Read, as well as John Cooper and David Hailwood.

As well as looking back over the years the Festival of 1000 Bikes has one more modern and unique feature for spectators to enjoy and that is a special appearance from the Tul-aris GP bike ridden by former GP star Mick Grant.

The Tul-aris is the only home-built, US-made Grand Prix bike to set outright lap records and win numerous races, including a national Formula USA Unlimited Grand Prix race. It was retired from racing in 2004, after the constructor, Dr. Robin Tuluie, moved to the UK to head up the Research and Development Department at the Renault Formula One Team.

Dr Tuluie said: “Winning two Formula One World Championships in the last three years takes its toll on one’s free time, so I’m glad we can take this opportunity to dust off the Tul-aris, make some noise and immerse ourselves in a weekend of racing fun and celebrations. We have a great time whenever we play with the Tul-aris, for example we took it to Silverstone a couple of years ago and ran it alongside our Formula One car around the track – that was a blast.

“It was also an honour to be the first modern US racing bike to be invited to the Goodwood Festival of Speed, a great demo event but perhaps a bit difficult to stretch the legs of this 183 hp, 273 lbs machine. This time we’ll be at Mallory Park, in the capable hands of Mick Grant, one of Britain’s GP heroes, so it should be impressive.”

If that isn’t enough to get you along to the Friendly Circuit in Leicestershire then evening entertainment provided by the ACE Café Rock and Roll stage should do it.

A weekend ticket to the Festival if booked in advance will cost £18 or £22 on the gate, a single ticket for Saturday in advance costs £9 or £10 on the gate, while Sunday costs £12 in advance or £14 on the gate. For advanced ticket sales please visit www.mallorypark.co.uk or call 01455 842931.

Mallory Park is situated in the heart of the midlands in Leicestershire just off the A47 between Leicester and Hinckley and easily accessible from the M1, M69 or M6. For further directions, please visit www.mallorypark.co.uk.
