What’s on at Mallory Park in July
The racing pulse
continues to beat at Mallory
Park this month with a
splendid line up of motorcycle and car racing to keep petrol-heads immersed in
their favourite pass time.
Following on
from the hugely successful British Superbike meeting, the Buildbase Mallory
Trophy Championship takes to the track this coming weekend on Sunday 6th
July. This will be the fourth round of the six round Championship which provides racing for all classes. The race of the
day is the Buildbase Mallory Trophy and
it is supported by Earlystocks, Roadstocks and Sidecars as well as 71cc
– 1300cc machines which are eligible.
On track activities start at 0930
with practice; the racing begins at 1045. The remaining two rounds run over the
following dates - 31st August, and 19th October. Admission costs £12.00, free
entry for children under the age of 16; parking and paddock are also free.
The biggest UK motorcycle festival - The Festival of 1000
Bikes - takes place at Mallory
Park on the 12th-13th
July. The vintage event has many big draws this year including the Tul-aris GP
bike which will make an appearance in the capable hands of ex- Grand Prix ace
Mick Grant.
Other big names from
yesteryear will include multiple world champions Giacomo Agostini and Phil
Read, as well as John Cooper and David Hailwood. Once the on track action has
stopped, the evening entertainment kicks off with bands on the ACE Café Rock
& Roll stage to keep the party going.
On Sunday 20th
July it is the turn of four wheels to hit the Friendly Leicestershire circuit
in the form of the Championship Car Races BARC National club car championships.
The full race schedule will include the crowd pleasing Formula Ford 1600’s in a
special one off race.
To round out the
month of July is the Summer Festival Motorcycle Races on Sunday 27th July. The
entertainment will be provided by the very successful new Thundersport GB
series which encompasses Aprilia
125 Superteens, Thundersport
600, StreetFighters,
Powerbikes,
Moto450,
Junior
Powerbikes, Sound
of Thunder and the GP250 – GP600, plus GP125 – GP mono. The on track action
will be spectacular with unusual machines to make it even more interesting.
