Emmett makes BSB return at Mallory Park
Sean Emmett, who has been competing in the Henderson Yamaha R1 Cup so far this season, will make a welcome return to round six of the British Superbike Championship this weekend at Mallory Park.
Emmett hasn’t raced at the challenging Leicestershire venue for two seasons now, but is looking forward to the challenge. He is riding for the SMT Honda team replacing the still injured Adam Jenkinson who broke his left arm and right wrist in a high speed crash at Thruxton.
"I am really up for it this weekend,” exclaimed Emmett. “I am looking forward to being out again in BSB and mixing it with the guys. I haven't ridden at Mallory Park for two years and therefore have not ridden the new layout of the chicane, but I do have a lot of experience and I am just going to jump on the bike and go for it in free practice on Friday. I want to finish in the top 10 so that I can do both myself and the team justice and there is no real reason why I shouldn't."
John Ward, General Manager of Mallory Park said: “I think it is great to have two big names like Sean Emmett and James Haydon make their return to the track this weekend at Mallory Park. The racing is sure to be close and frantic as it always is here and I’m looking forward to seeing how Haydon and Emmett will do.”
The 1.41 mile circuit, in the heart of the midlands, is one of the most challenging on the BSB calendar with numerous chicanes and high speed turns. It is one circuit where top speed isn’t everything but it does require a nimble, fine handling bike.
Action kicks off on track on Friday 27th June with two free practice sessions. Final free practice continues on Saturday 28th June with qualifying taking place at 14:40. Racing starts on Sunday 28th June at 13:15 and 16:20.
Advanced ticket sales have now closed but they can be purchased on the gate and costs range from £8 for a practice day ticket, through to £48 for the weekend including paddock on practice and qualifying days but not race day.
Mallory Park is situated in the heart of the midlands in Leicestershire just off the A47 between Leicester and Hinckley and easily accessible from the M1, M69 or M6. For further directions, please visit www.mallorypark.co.uk.
