It’s all happening at Mallory Park
Mallory Park in Leicestershire is hosting a number of different events this summer as it extends its repertoire into new areas of motorsport and non-motorsport activities.
This Bank Holiday Monday will see some different activities take to the track at the Friendly circuit as it is being used for the East Midlands Triathlon Championships. Activities start at 1330 with competitors swimming in the lake they then hit the track on their bicycles, and finish off by running round the intimate venue.
On Sunday 18th May the Silver Jubilee Celebration Races will take place in honour of the 25 years which Chris Meek has owned Mallory Park and his 52 years in car racing. There will be a vintage car parade which will cover vehicles from the last 25 years of racing. Well known drivers from yesteryear including Tim Parnell and Dave Brodie will be on hand for demonstration laps and autographs. At the moment 80 cars are promised for the event so there will be plenty to look at and reminisce over.
The biggest event on Mallory’s calendar this year is the World round of the Motocross Grand Prix on Sunday 1st June. Preparations are well under way with extensive work being carried out on the track which will be in place only for this one off event. The World Motocross Championship is currently being led by David Philipparts, Steve Ramon is second and Joshua Coppins is running third. Scottish rider Billy Mackenzie is in fourth place and will be hoping for a lot of support at Mallory for his home round.
The International Post TT Motorcycle Races on Sunday 15th June is lining up a spectacular sidecar race which will feature multiple Sidecar World Champion Tim Reeves who will have just returned from his Isle of Man TT debut. Mallory Park is planning on bringing the top ten Sidecar competitors straight from the TT races to compete in the Formula 2 Sidecar race – it is guaranteed to be a trilling race.
