Forget the turkeys, the Plum Pudding at Mallory Park is a cracker

carsBOXING DAY will see car and bike race action return to Mallory Park with the 36th running of the Plum Pudding races, offering a thrilling family orientated alternative to turkey and telly for people wanting to inject excitement into their Christmas celebrations.

Saturday, December 26th is the date for the Plum Pudding races which always draw big crowds to the Friendly Circuit near Leicester. The weather may be cold and cool but the welcome will be warm and the on-track action is likely to be sideways as the cars and bikes search for grip.

Four wheeled fans will catered for with two Sport and Saloon races and two Caterham races. There will be two-wheeled bike action as well, with close competitive racing expected.

Mallory Park General Manager John Ward said: “Caterhams are hard enough to drive on hot, dry tracks, so the thrills and spills you can expect on Boxing Day can only be guessed at. The bikers love the Plum Pudding races as well, some even race in fancy dress; I am sure Santa has won a race or two here over the last couple of years – that’s impressive given the day’s work he has only just finished on the 25th December!

“Seriously, the Plum Pudding is designed as a great family day out with live racing entertainment for all of the family. There will be refreshments, hot drinks, hot food and plenty to do at the circuit as well, it offers the perfect antidote to too much turkey and chocolates and is the perfect excuse to get out on Boxing Day – fans love the day and its friendly atmosphere, everyone enjoys themselves, the meeting is a real Christmas cracker.”

Tickets to the Plum Pudding may offer an excellent gift idea for your motorsport-mad loved one and only cost £10 when purchased on-line, saving £2 on the gate prices. It is the perfect family day out with children under the age of 16 going free.

Looking into the New Year, the first big event for 2010 at Mallory Park is the MSA British Rallycross Championship which will be staged on Sunday 14th February, Valentine’s Day. The inaugural Rallycross was hugely successful with Supercars which are capable of 0-60 mph in 1.9seconds taking to the specially built shale sections in spectacular sideways action.

Why not get Christmas and Valentine’s gifts all sorted out in one hit by purchasing tickets to both for your petrol-head partner? Ticket prices for the Rallycross are £15 and children under 12-years old go free.
