Star of Mallory Formula Ford 1600 Championship

Mallory Park is pleased to announce the welcome return of the ‘Star of Mallory Formula Ford 1600 Championship’ for 2008.

The revival of the traditional Mallory 1600 championship will be run by the British Automobile Racing Club over 8 races during next season.  The championship will feature 14 lap races over the spectacular 1.35 mile Mallory circuit and will encompass 5 classes of 1600cc Formula Ford cars for year one to allow as many competitors to compete in this great new single venue series as possible.  It is also hoped that each event will be a special with trophies such as the Edwina Overend Trophy, The Don Truman Trophy & so on up for grabs in addition to the actual championship titles themselves.  It is also hoped to attract some sponsors to enable the competitors to be eligible for bonus awards, more details of these will be published in the coming months.

The provisional 8 round Championship, which is a mixture of single races and double headers, is announced as follows:

26 May      (Classic Sports Car Club)

08 June     (British Automobile Racing Club)    Double Header.

20 July      (British Automobile Racing Club)

10 Aug       (Morgan Sports Car Club)

25 Aug       (British racing & Sports Car Club)

21 Sept     (British Automobile Racing Club)    Double Header.

Registration into the championship will cost £100:00 and this will include a free pre-season test day, on a date to be announced.

Mallory Park General Manager John Ward said “The return of this fantastic championship is great news and we are pleased to see it back at Mallory as a single venue championship, just as it was many years ago.  The interest in the return of “The Star of Mallory” has been encouraging from both competitors & spectators, who have over the last year or so been disappointed by the lack of Britain’s favourite club single seater racing at the circuit. That is about to change for 2008 and we look forward to some great racing”
